February 2014 at Fox & Goose!

In this funny old town where music has always been such a common and wonderful thread, we often forget how lucky we are to have all these unique music venues all within bike riding distance. There's basically no hills and the weather is so nice, you would have to be really lazy to not get out and take advantage of it. So ride your bike over here, grab a pint, and catch a quick set by one of Sacramento's best local performers. You only live once and it really is easy and affordable.

Saturday the 1st is a triple threat of musical yumminess and ridiculous talent. The night opens with Hans & The Hot Mess. Hans is a vibrant neo soul singer who plays electronic beats and guitar with his slick and funky side kick, Nyxi on bass. We also welcome back the high energy New Orleans brass band The City of Trees with their wall of sound brass menagerie. And for their reunion show we have the super energetic rockabilly freak-out, Tip Top Trio! Drink good beer, ride your bike, be sweet, and listen to good music at Fox & Goose.

Friday the 7th it's the return of local crazy animal-man Dean Haakenson with his Be Brave Bold Robot outfit, psychy lovers, the Sunmonks, and hippopotamus rockers CFR. Do you like folk rock, psychedelics, or jammy rockedelics while being gently massaged by a large Haakenson, then get over to your pub and be realistic.

Saturday the 8th is all female fronted bands with the old timey swing sounds of Miss Maddy's F Street Stompers and attractive artsy indie rock pieces from The Lower 48 who hail from ye old Portlandia. If you like wonderfully classy female fronted bands who can entertain you with beautiful sounds then this is the show for you. Be responsible to yourself and visit Fox & Goose for breakfast, lunch, beer, and music!
Adam Varona brings his not so wobbly Sea Legs to the Goose on Valentines night with Davis folk rock group, Red Union Blue and hippy-love music from The Followers of Sunshine. Sea Legs are very fresh and exciting with tricky songwriting, great lyrics, and well adjusted strong males in charge of solid and vibrant instruments. Adam is a sweet sweet man. Opening the night is the engaging folky rock sounds of Red Union Blue fronted by the dynamic and beautiful vocals of Trena Thompson. Closing the night is Jaime Espinoza's Followers doing sweet songs of love and kindness. Don't miss this great show!

Touchez comes to the Goose on Saturday the 15th with Redrick Sultan and Tepid Joy. Touchez is a love pop supreme group featuring the songwriting genius of Mario Andrioni (!!!) and James Williams (Yahmos) with lovely vocals from Rachel Purdie and brilliantly accurate drumming from Vince Andrioni. Canada's Redrick Sultan does poppy music influenced by folk and blues. Trepid Joy is a lush and vulnerable trip into a reverb dripping cave full of lo-fi stallactites poetically nibbling at your inner ear. There, I said it.

Friday the 21st is Kevin Second's latest solo album release party. Come out and celebrate this local legend's new crop of songs. Kevin is a supremely prolific creative force that makes this town that much more rich. Fox & Goose loves his melodies, heart felt lyrics, rib-shaking guitar rhythms, and ongoing dedication to the Sacramento music scene. Making it a truly unmissable night is the fabulously energetic and dangerous West Nile Ramblers with their 3rd Friday monthly residency at your Goose. Jameson.
February 22nd is a serious doozy of musical magnificence with Christopher Gabe Nelson's intense super-dooper band Bellygunner. Gabe is another Sacramento gem bringing his wonderous songwriting to life with tip top level musicians. From the Bay it's electro acoustic megalodons, The Seshen with their Little Dragon-esque female fronted futuristic music. Opening the night we have the sweet California popsters, Felsen. Don't miss this show, darnit!

Chicken & Dumplin' will be at the Goose on Thursday the 27th warming your night with down home blues. The duo consists of Charles the chicken on guitar and Julia the dumpling on bass. Enjoy this free show with a pint and a Shepherd's Pie... we don't have chicken and dumplings.

Finishing out February on a high note we bring you an all acoustic night with Wolfgang Vega, The Denver J Band, and Stevie Nader. Wolfgang is grungey rock and roll band with passion and you can see them stripped down and naked in our intimate pub. Denver J does good old rock & roll and Stevie Nader is an r&b influenced folk singer with soul and great tunes. Jump on your bike and enjoy great music, great food, and the best selection of beer and spirits at Fox & Goose.
