January 2014 at Fox & Goose!

Every Wednesday is Northern Soul and Cornhole, our weekly night of classic rare soul music, rocksteady, northern soul, and the super fun bag toss game, Cornhole! 8pm/free



Thursday is a singer-songwriter showcase with Martin Purtill, Brandon Tyler, and Justin Purtill. Enjoy these fantastic local indie songwriters and have a hot buttered rum! 8pm/free

Friday the 3rd is the incredibly funky-fresh Big Sticky Mess. Do you like James Brown? Do you like Funkadelic? These ridiculous funksters will make you wiggle and giggle. Opening the night is Miss Maddy's F Street Stompers with their old timey swing music. 9pm/$5

Saturday is brilliant songwriting from Adam Wade and his Golden Cadillacs with their unique brand of independent honky-tonk and exquisite bluegrass from The Delta City Ramblers. 

Thursday the 9th it’s Steve McLane’s timeless acoustic tunes. Steve has been playing at Fox & Goose since the early days. He plays classics from Neil Young to the Beatles to Bob Dylan. It's a nice mellow way to spend a Thursday evening with a pint and a pasty. 8pm, free.

Friday the 10th, Supermuff is playing poppy garage rock from SF with local Pink Floydians, Infinite Vastness. Bring the parents and get tipsy to the rocky music. You should probably have something to eat too... like a King's Cross Burger with a side of creamy basil.

The 11th is the return of Keyser Soze from Reno and The Sacto Soul Rebels bringing you all the ska and rocksteady reggae your heart desires. You should probably have a pint of London Pride…

Thursday the 16th it’s the fun and talented Mike Justis Band with their superior brand of acoustic folk. 
Friday the 17th, we welcome back the super high-energy bluegrass of The West Nile Ramblers for their regular 3rd Friday residency at the Goose backed by Sacramento’s upright bass phenom, Zack Slapunor and his new New Orleans-swing group Hot City. 
Saturday it’s Professor Gall doing his junkyard folk and nefarious jazz a la Tom Waits, with Matt Sertich of The Generals playing his indie pop and Kevin Seconds and his indie/folk/country-punk.



Thursday the 23rd it’s a Songwriter Showcase with Brian Brown and Hannah Kile. Sweet acoustic songs from two local up and coming performers.

On Friday the 24th it’s pop rock from super fun female fronted band The Chick P’s, rock & rollers: We Just Met, and Celtic music from Mike Mullen’s Trio of One.

Saturday night come hear Spangler’s new album and superb bluegrass from The Delta City Ramblers. Also, I want you to try our Hot Spiced Cider with some Bulleit Rye Whiskey; it’s so ridiculously nummy nummy.



Enjoy some live contemporary funk and jazz with local musos, BLT. It's an all night session (8 to 11pm) with this super talented trio. A nice Oban scotch on the rocks and an odyssey into the jazz-funk depths of your mind sounds like fun!

The 31st is a night of indie rock with For Sayle, Miss Massive Snowflake and Rainstick Cowbell from (PDX), and Damon and Mason from Forever Goldrush. For Sayle loves music and tamales, Miss Massive blends angled radio hits, a jazzy sensibility, and boy band punk, Damon and Mason play well crafted alt. country.

Every Wednesday is Northern Soul and Cornhole, our weekly night of classic rare soul, rocksteady, and northern soul. Come throw some corn sacks and dare to move your hips to the sweet sounds of soulful music! 8 'til late/sacks @ 10pm.


Thursday the 5th is Jay Shaner playing his sweet Americana with singer-songwriter, Jackson Griffith. Jay's music is perfect for the fall in Sacramento and Jackson is a visionary, a wordsmith, and an all around good fella. Come warm yourself up with a hot spiced cider with some Jameson.

Friday the 6th it’s a night of country, pop, and great songwriting with Lucky Laskowski & The Liars Choir, Mike Miller & The High Life Band, and The Million Dollar Giveaway. 
Saturday, December 7th is the return of Oakland's brilliant a capella hip-hop/soul group, Antique Naked Soul, celebrating their album release, followed by the super high energy New Orleans style brass funk outfit, The City of Trees Brass Band, 9pm/$5.


Thursday it’s Steve McLane and Laurali’s Christmas Party. Come hear some classic holiday folk songs at Steve's annual Xmas soiree. 8pm/free 


Kittenhead (female fronted Hollywood pop punk), Sly Park (bluesy soul), and The Bathtub Gins (country-tonk) on Friday the 13th, 9pm/$5.

The 14th is raw guitar rock from 50-Watt Heavy, a solo acoustic set from Two Cow Garage's Micah Schnabel, and Americana from Richfield, 9pm/$5

The Mike Justis Band plays acoustic folk on Thursday the 19th. Mike has played at the Goose for many many years, and his brand of classic acoustic music is always refreshing. Featuring Kathy Barwick, Mike Justis, Steve O'Neil, Jeff Sears, and Steve McLane, you're always in for some great Americana, Blues, and Classic folk music.

Friday the 20th it’s The West Nile Ramblers playing high energy bluegrass, Kally O’Mally playing sweet pop, and Mike Blanchard & The Californios doing good ol' boy country. Live music is alive and well in Sacramento at the Foxy Goose!


The 21st is grunge rock from The Secret Lives of Squirrels, all-girl pop punk from Dead Horses, and smoky outlaw country from Wolf Hamlin and the Front Porch Drifters (American Idol Contestant), 9pm/$5. Get goosed with these fine local musicians!

Thursday, it’s an open jam with Chimi Changa… bring your axe. He's gonna bring everything else, who knows what could happen. 


On the 27th it’s blues-grass from Wes Fox & The Loons, funky folk from Spark Three featuring Mango Jennings with The Afterlife swing duo opening the night.

Saturday the 28th is the brilliant Johnny Cash tribute band: The Cash Prophets featuring Bobby Cash and his sons, with pop rock cover band The Uncovered, 9pm/$5


Spend your New Year’s Eve with us, and shake your tambourine to the solid funk and soul sounds of Larry Rodriguez. This is by far the best year-end dance party in town, so get the crew together, and let’s ring in the New Year at your favorite pub!
