Goodbye 2012...

Happy Holidays everybody! December is packed full with great music. We've got Steve McLane and Laurali's annual Christmas Show on the 13th, brilliant Italian gypsy folk group Taluna on the 14th, The Bennys are back on the 15th, a new regular Wednesday night soul and rocksteady night starting on the 19th called Northern Soul, a fun X-mas party with Red Union Blue and twin sisters The MMM's, and of course the Larry Rodriguez New Year's Eve Dance Party! Make Fox & Goose your spot for the Holidays.
Cheers!

Saturday the 1st it’s rock & roll from Goldener, alt/pop from Sea of Sound, and acoustic Clashy-ness from the Beneficiaries. Sea of Sound is an energetic and groovy cross between Coldplay, Muse, and the Killers. Goldener says they're rock & roll, but I'll just have to see for myself. The Beneficiaries are my favorite Stockton band, with their 77' sound, surfy jangles, and suspicious accents. Have a pasty and drink some Red Breast!

Wednesday the 5th it’s original acoustic music from Jim Raines and Jim Funk. Raines has a mellow country rock feel mixed with a little Elliot Smith. Funk has a poppy sound like if the Kinks and the Moody Blues got in a blender. Have a beer.

Thursday Jay Shaner returns with his full band playing his beautiful heartfelt songs and is bringing his honor rocker friends the Neighbors. Jay's new album Ruth is the perfect soundtrack for a midtown stroll in the fall. It's rich in melody with intimate and sincere songwriting. Crawl Your Way Home is my favorite... just make sure you have a nutburger before you drown your sorrows.

Friday the 7th it’s psychedelic garage rock with Drive-Thru Mystics, Talky Tina, and Mindflowers. The Mystics are a deliciously raucous combination of The Brian Jones Town Massacre and the Jesus and Mary Chain. Talky Tina are power pop/punk from San Jose with an emphasis on rock & roll. Mindflowers are beautiful washed out lo-fi 60's garage pop at it's best. I'm listening to them right now and it's quite satisfying! Let's dance and have a Yummy (hot-spiced cider with Jameson).

Saturday we have Neil Youngy indie guys Akron Engine, sweet melodic Bellygunner featuring Gabe Nelson from Cake, and the One Buck String Band playing brilliant Appalachian songs. This will be a wonderfully eclectic night of well crafted music. Warm yourself up with our peppermint schnapps and hot chocolate goo goo ga ga drink: the Snuggler!

Wednesday the 12th we welcome Lucky Laskowski and friends playing country and rockabilly. Lucky says he'll be joined by Paris Clayton and Gordon Groft. Catch some of sacto's best country and blues musicians free at your favorite pub. Support live music and eat some banger rolls!

On Thursday, December 13th it's Steve McLane and Laurali's Annual Christmas show. Steve has been playing at Fox & Goose since the early days. Come and get your holiday spirit out, sing a long to some classic X-mas songs and get schnokered with a friend!

Friday it’s uber-alt rockers Friendship and Humble Wolf followed by traditional Itallian gypsy folk music by Taluna. Taluna is on tour from Italy and will be a very unique experience. I really don't know how to express the importance of being at this show. All I know is if you don't go than you are doing yourself a great disservice and no one should do that.

Saturday, back at the Goosey Goose, it’s the Bennys with their soul/reggae/indie-rock sounds and friends Stone Soop. The Bennys always put on a great show and Stone Soop is a mystery. Wear a funny hat and drink a Waterloo Sunset!

Wednesday the 19th marks the beginning of Northern Soul, our weekly night of classic underground soul music and rocksteady. Jump on your scooter and get down here for the music that makes you glide and shake. Break up your week with a pint and a round of darts to the sweet sounds of 60's and 70's England at your favorite pub!

On Thursday it’s John Gruber and his old style blues influenced Americana. With songs like Tennessee Whiskey and Broke Down Run Down Man you'll be taken to the deep south. Stop by and have a listen to some great music!

Friday don’t miss Martin Purtill and Lee Madeloni, rock band Face 4 Radio and sweet gypsy folk from Awkward Lemon. Awkward Lemon is a great new local trio featuring sweet male/female vocals. Face 4 Radio has a groovy southern rock sound. Martin and Lee are indie rock singer/songwriters just wrapping up their tour. Have a Smithwick's and enjoy the show!

Saturday the 22nd it’s an X-mas Party with female fronted folk rockers, Red Union Blue and acoustic pop from twin sisters, the MMM’s. Red Union Blue brings a rock pop/folk/country sound with 3 part harmonies. The MMM's want you to feel the love, fire, tears, sweat, angst, terror, and passion they feel when creating music. Let’s have some hot spiced cider and a TLT!

Every Wednesday it's Northern Soul, our weekly night of classic underground soul music and rocksteady. Break up your week with a pint and a round of darts to the sweet sounds of 60's and 70's England at your favorite pub!

The Mike Justis Band plays acoustic folk on Thursday the 27th. Mike has played at the Goose for many many years, and his brand of classic acoustic music is always refreshing. Featuring Kathy Barwick, Mike Justis, and Steve McLane, you're always in for some great Americana, Blues, and Classic folk music.

The Island of Black & White is back doing their folk/rock/reggae mix with the Ice House Blues Band and indie pop from Mainland on Friday. Enjoy some great live entertainment at Goosey Goose Goose!

On Saturday, December 29th Fox & Goose welcomes 50-Watt Heavy, Caballos Muertos, and The Followers of Sunshine. 50-Watt is led by the devastatingly brutal songwriting skills of one Joseph Kojima Gray. The Caballoses are like the Pixies meets Iggy with lady voices. The Followers are Neil Youngy tenderness with an attitude. This could be the end of the world so get into it!

Bring in 2013 with Fox & Goose and Larry Rodriguez! Larry is Sacramento's favorite soul and funk purveyor, and he's bringing MC Ham and Wokstar to assist in the festivities! It's the best party in town, so get here early and remember to practice all your best moves! Feed those chickens! The boogaloo is probably one of the hottest dances in the world! Mash potato!
